5 Cake Cutting Songs (Because That’s Actually a Thing)

Our DJs personalize every wedding reception we do from the biggest ordeal (ahem, first dance, anyone?) to the smallest (honestly, can you remember the dinner music at the last wedding you attended?) to fit the bride’s personality. Cake cutting songs are often overlooked in the planning process, because who even thinks of that? I didn’t know cake cutting songs were a thing until I started working at Boyd’s Events nearly three years ago. Even this song that isn’t largely recognized at weddings, it still adds a little of your personality as a couple into the feel of your big day.

How Sweet It Is – James Taylor (or Marvin Gaye… or Michael Buble)

Classic Wedding Song.

Sugar – Maroon 5

how fun 🙂

Def Leppard – Pour Some Sugar on Me

okay, who doesn’t love the 80s? (are you starting to see a sugary little theme here?

Honey Bee – Sugar

A little country for y’all! 🙂

Sugar Sugar by the Archies

It’s just one of those songs, you know? (plus, check out this music video from ’69!)

there are of course a thousand other songs you can do for cake cutting (from Hit Me With Your Best Shot to You’re My Best Friend) you can do anything from funny to sweet, slow to upbeat, joking to serious. Cake cutting is one of those moments all eyes are on you and the music is more of a feel, but it’s you who get to decide that feel.

What song did you have for your cake cutting, if you had one? Or what song are you planning on?
We’d love to know!!!
